The NRG Oncology Winter meeting is fast approaching! The Protocol Support Committee (PSC) has been working hard to put together two days of programming specifically for our clinical trial nurse (CTN), clinical research associate (CRA) and all other clinical research professional (CRP) members. We are excited to share a sneak peek of what to expect at the 2025 NRG Oncology Winter Meeting:
1. If you are new to NRG Oncology, we strongly encourage you to attend the orientation session, “Introduction to Clinical Trials: Principles of Clinical Trial Management”, on Thursday, January 16, 2025, from 7:30am MT–4:30pm MT. This orientation session is primarily for research staff with one year or less of experience in NRG Oncology trials, however, we always welcome our seasoned members that are looking for a ‘refresher’ course.
The primary objective is to provide basic information about NRG Oncology, National Cancer Institute (NCI) policies and procedures, as well as information required to perform the specific job responsibilities of a CTN and CRA when implementing NRG Oncology clinical trials.
The program is divided into a morning and afternoon session. The morning session will be a lecture format with presentation topics on Membership, Regulatory Affairs, Expedited Adverse Event Reporting, Investigational Drug Management, Medidata Rave, Quality Assurance Audits, Pathology/Biospecimen Collections, RECIST Criteria, Patient Reported Outcome Compliance, and review of the NRG Oncology Mentor Program. This program will be offered for in-person and virtual attendance.
The afternoon session consists of special discussion forums, also known as breakout sessions, allowing for more interactive learning among both the in-person and virtual attendees. The four breakout sessions topics include Patient Consent, Screening and Enrollment; Treatment Modalities; Data Management; and Adverse Event Reporting. Attendees will rotate through all four sessions as assigned.
2. On Friday, January 17, 2025, from 7:30 am MT- 11:45 am MT, the PSC will offer the “Continuing Education Program” for in-person and virtual attendees. This session is for both seasoned and new research staff. Our informative and exciting session will include:
These PSC Educational Sessions have been approved with the Virginia Nursing Association (VNA) to award contact hours. We look forward to seeing you in Phoenix!
