Article submission from the NRG Oncology PSC Education & Training Subcommittee
The NRG Oncology Summer meeting is fast approaching! The Protocol Support Committee (PSC) has been working hard to put together a variety of programing specifically for our clinical research professional (CRP) members. We are excited to share a sneak peek of what to expect at the 2024 NRG Oncology July Meeting in Denver:
1. On Thursday, July 25, 2024, from 7:30 am MT- 11:50 am MT, the PSC will offer a “Continuing Education Program” for in-person and virtual attendees. This session is for both seasoned and new research staff. Administrative updates will be provided by CTSU, NCI, and Patient Reported Outcomes (PRO) Compliance. In addition, we are excited to invite Dr. Bethany Anderson back, this time to further inform our members about Radiation Oncology. Dr. Kathleen Moore and Dr. Roisin O’Cearbhaill will be presenting on a much talked about topic- Immunotherapy and its Long-Term Side Effects. We are also thrilled to have Dr. Erik Modlo present on Functional Medicine. The morning session will be extended for our in-person attendees from 12:05 pm- 1:15 pm MT with a special Lunch & Learn program organized and presented by a highly acclaimed CRP advocate, Jennifer Dill. We will provide a box lunch (pre-registration required) and discuss current research related topics in a round table setting.
2. On Thursday, July 25, 2024, from 1:30 pm- MT- 4:45 pm MT the PSC will host our annual summer round tables. The round tables provide members with opportunities to ask questions, discuss various topics and best practices. The tables are hosted by NRG Staff and experts in the field of research. There will be several Best Practice tables hosted by volunteer PSC members who represent our CRP membership. We will offer a virtual component for the round tables. Virtual attendees will remain in one virtual room while our preselected speakers will present.
3. On Friday, July 26, 2024, from 10:30 am MT- 11:45 am MT, in response to past meeting evaluations, we are thrilled to report we will continue to host the PSC Protocol Spotlight Session. We have invited the Study Chair and/or NRG staff from three trials, NRG-CC011, NRG-GI008, and NRG-BR008, to present and discuss with membership. This will allow our PSC members to ask questions and identify any issues with the trial (for example: kit orders, data management or nursing.)
The PSC will be submitting applications for Nursing Contact Hours and CME credit hours for these sessions. We look forward to seeing you in July in Denver.
