NRG Oncology Seeking Candidate for Deputy NCORP PI

November 25 2024

We are seeking nominations for the position of Deputy NCORP PI. The NCI Community Oncology Research Program (NCORP) brings cancer research studies and results to patients in a variety of community settings across the United States. NRG is one of seven NCORP research bases and one of only four focused on adults with cancer. The focus of the NRG NCORP is on cancer control, cancer prevention and cancer care delivery. Patient reported outcomes and health disparities are cross cutting themes incorporated into most NCORP protocols as well as NRG treatment trials.

Candidates for this position should have an active program of funded research and publications in cancer control, cancer prevention or cancer care delivery and have a history of NCTN leadership in terms of protocol study chair and or committee chair or co-chair. Candidates with a background in the study of women’s health are preferred.

Candidates for this position will participate in the monthly senior executive committee meetings and executive review committee meetings, attend meetings for relevant NCORP committees, attend the two in-person NRG group meetings annually, provide organizational leadership and scientific guidance, and aid in the day-to-day operations of the group. The individual will work closely with the NCORP PIs, Dr. Deborah Bruner and Dr. Lisa Kachnic, overseeing operations and seeking qualified individuals to bring forward concepts, develop protocols and produce timely publications.

NRG Oncology Committee Chairs must be at an NRG Oncology Member Institution and eligible to receive federal funding. Nominal funds from federal grants to offset related effort and travel to NRG Oncology meetings is provided. Candidates are required to have either completed the demographic information or have formally elected to opt-out as per the NRG Oncology Demographic Data Initiative. Information on this initiative is posted on the NRG Oncology website at https://www.nrgoncology.org/demographic-data-initiative.

Applicants for the position should forward a cover letter addressing their specific interests and qualifications for the role as well as their NIH biosketch to committee-nominations@nrgoncology.org. The deadline for the application submission is February 14, 2025. If you have questions about the position, forward those to the same email and we will have an appropriate party get back to you.
